EU AI Act · Article 4

The EU AI Act expects your people to be AI-literate. Most companies aren’t ready.

Article 4 is a dated, EU-wide reason to get adoption right — not a scare. It asks for an auditable AI-literacy foundation for the people using AI. The good news: building it is the same work that makes your AI spend finally pay back.

One date, EU-wideIn force now

Applies since

2 Feb 2025

Enforcement begins

2 Aug 2026

This date is not part of the deadlines the EU postponed. It is a fixed, EU-wide milestone — reason to prepare calmly, not to panic.

What the duty is

What Article 4 actually asks for

An AI-literacy foundation for staff using AI

Providers and deployers must ensure staff who use AI systems have a sufficient level of AI literacy — the knowledge to use them competently and understand their risks.

It already applies — enforcement starts 2 Aug 2026

Article 4 has applied since 2 February 2025; national market-surveillance authorities begin enforcing from 2 August 2026. This date is not part of the deadlines the EU postponed.

It needs to be auditable

A one-off webinar with no record isn’t a foundation. What holds up is role-based enablement you can evidence — who was trained, on what, and when.

How we build it

How the audit builds the foundation

Every AI & Tool Waste Audit includes an EU AI Act Article 4 chapter: a read on where your AI-literacy foundation stands and what it takes to make it auditable. The enablement workshops then deliver it — role-based, on real workflows, with a record you can show. The same work that lifts adoption (and recovers your wasted spend) is the work that satisfies the literacy duty.

  • Role-based enablement that doubles as the auditable foundation
  • A record of who was trained, on what, and when

Our boundary

What we do — and what we don’t

We build the auditable AI-literacy foundation and the adoption around it. We do not give legal or compliance advice, and we don’t certify compliance — that’s your obligation, and for the legal reading we’ll point you to a specialist partner. Regulation is a reason to act; it’s never the product we sell.
